Pre-application advice

Pre-application advice: £1,850. This service is available.

Before submitting a planning application, you can get formal written advice from a planning officer on the likely acceptability of your proposal, the information you will need to submit, and the policies against which your application will be assessed.

What is included

  • A written assessment of your proposal against the Local Plan and material planning considerations
  • Identification of the technical reports and supporting documents your application will need
  • A meeting with a named planning officer, in person or by video call
  • A formal written response within 20 working days

Fee

The fee for pre-application advice on a householder or minor development proposal is £1,850. Fees for major developments are calculated individually and quoted on request.

How to request pre-application advice

Contact the Planning service with a description of your site and proposal, and payment will be requested before advice is provided.

Pre-application advice is given in good faith on the basis of the information provided and does not bind the Council to a particular decision on any subsequent application.
